Today is my birthday. Hooray! In honor of that, my workmates and I thought it would be an awesome idea to celebrate with an alcohol-spiked watermelon. The directions in doing so seem rather simple:
- Choose a booze – my genius choice: 1800 Coconut Tequila (if you’ve never tried it, you are missing out big time. Go to the liquor store NOW)
- Cut a round hole in your watermelon (the size should be the same as the neck of your bottle of booze) and dig out a relatively deep hole.
- Flip the bottle upside down and into the watermelon. *We washed a Grady’s glass bottle and filled it with the tequila instead of using the entire bottle of tequila. Let it sit overnight.

After some trial and error, we figured out how to leave the watermelon in the fridge without fear of the bottle tipping over and spilling everywhere. Upon arriving this morning, we were saddened by the fact that the bottle was still quite full of tequila and had barely drained into the watermelon! It’s not as easy of a project as it looks.
We eventually decided to forfeit the upside down bottle idea and cut the watermelon into pieces while letting it marinate in a tub of tequila, which worked waaaaaay better. And my oh my, it’s absolutely delicious!
