5 Clean Makeup Must-Haves

One of the hardest challenges I faced when going “clean/green” with my personal care routine was finding natural makeup products that performed well. There was a lot of trial and error testing out a variety of natural makeup brands. Some made my skin breakout while others made my eyes itchy. Just because something is made from “natural” ingredients it doesn’t mean it will be a good fit for you specifically.  That being said, I’ve spent over three years testing out different brands before finally settling on my top favorites. Below are my 5 clean beauty must-haves for a full makeup look:

Foundation:  Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Flawless Serum Foundation

I love this foundation. It leaves a light, yet flawless, coverage. It’s a bit on the expensive side but a little goes a long way so I expect this product will last me quite a while.

Plus: Formulated without parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances.

Eyes and Cheeks: 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Palettes

This product is a 2-in-1… score! I absolutely love these palettes from 100% Pure because they are great for sensitive skin and eyes. My eyes have a tendency to turn red and irritated from conventional eye makeup products, but with 100% Pure I don’t experience any irritation. Each palette comes with 3 eye shadow colors in addition to a blush color and all-over iridescent shimmer. Perfect for travel and carrying in your purse.

Plus: Colored from 100% natural, antioxidant and vitamin packed fruit and vegetable pigments instead of synthetic dyes or minerals.

Mascara: Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara‎

I’m slowly working my way through almost all of Pacifica’s products. (You might remember my natural perfume post where I raved about their fragrances). Mascara was the toughest product for me to find a replacement for my beloved CoverGirl LashBlast. I finally settled on Pacifica’s Dream Big mascara. The formula and brush are great for building both length and volume.

Plus: Made of all natural plant fibers. 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

Lips: Burt’s Bees Lipstick

My go-to lip product is almost always a beeswax-based natural lip balm. However, for fancy occasions and a full face of makeup, my favorite lipstick is Burt’s Bees. It’s applies evenly and the colors are beautiful. And best of all, it doesn’t dry out your lips (my biggest lipstick pet peeve)!

Plus:  8-hour moisture, 100% Natural, Features naturally moisturizing ingredients such as Beeswax, Moringa Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, and Vitamin E.

Eye Liner: Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Eye Liner

This eyeliner is one of the smoothest I’ve ever tried. It’s easy to apply and blends really well.

Plus: Amazonian clay works to nourish lids, reduce surface oil and improve overall texture for easy application and better wear.

Honorable Mention

Concealer: Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector

If you are looking to cover dark under-eye circles or need extra blemish coverage I highly suggest trying Tarte’s Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector. It applies smoothly and has light-diffusing particles that brighten under-eye areas.

Plus: Formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates or gluten.
